Building 40, Vaccine Research Center
Building 40, the Dale and Betty Bumpers Vaccine Research Center
(VRC), was named after Arkansas Sen. Dale Bumpers and his wife Betty who spent more than 25 years promoting worldwide childhood immunizations. The VRC houses several research laboratories conducting research that facilitates the development of effective vaccines for HIV/AIDS and other human diseases, as well as a conference suite with teleconferencing capacity. The facility was completed in 2000.
